Kombucha - High Country - Original - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC

The Turkish Beverage Board still has to acquire it’s taste for Kombucha, but I thought it was ok compared to others like it.  I’m still a rookie on the kombucha scene, but it seems like one of these new-wave kombucha’s that have more of a flavor than a real taste.

I was decent though.  I kept taking little nips at it throughout the night.

Honeydrop - Alive - Blood Oranges & Honey Tea - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC

$1.79

$1.79

I was really excited for this tea, but was disappointed to find a bland, filmy texture in my mouth after taking the initial swig.  It hits you with a refreshing wave, but then the after taste settles in and kills it, quickly un-quenching your thirst.  You need a chaser or a tooth-brushing after drinking this.  With all the delicious teas out there, this gets a zero replay value and DebatableBevi categorization.

BUT if you already have one popped and don’t know what to do, mix it with Smirnoff Vodka and the filmy texture goes away, leaving a very tasty and mild alcoholic bevi.  Splashes to vodka, particularly Smirnoff in our case, for the bevi relief.

Life Is Sweeter Without Sugar - Ito En

photo-134

Amen, Ito En.  I love your work.  Sooooo many beverages are loaded with sugar that sipping on a nice Ito En is truly a breath of fresh air.  But I will say that during Summer life is not colder with a plastic bottle!

All this plastic vs. glass banter in the last week is prompting me to do some research on economy and sustainability in packaging.  I may eat my words in the end when pondering the ultimate and conscious Bombevi.  Stay sippin’ and never slippin’ until then.

Mango Passion Puerh Black Tea - Numi Organic Tea

photo-132

Let it be known in this first sentence that Numi is putting out some bomb ass teas, and they are in cold, glass bottles.  You gotta shake it up as there’s some stuff settled at the bottom.  But then you’re hit with an amazing, rich flavor that tastes like you’re drinking a delicious juicy mango that has been soaking in some good tea.  I had it with some spaghetti and it was done by my fourth bite.  Bombevi!!

And if you’re wondering what the Puerh is all about, it’s not some pretentious, retarded way to say pure, it’s pronounced “pu-err” and is a type of black tea leaf picked from trees up to 500 years old, which apparently means antioxidant supernova.  The bottle claims it is, “tropical & succulent” and I wouldn’t say I disagree.  At $3 and with 13g of sugar and 5% juice I’m all aboard if I got some spare change jingling in my shorts.

Blueberry Green - Tea’s Tea - Ito En

photo-131

I’m not exactly sure if this is diffrent from the other Blueberry Green Tea by Ito En, but it’s just as good.  One of the lightly sweetened Ito En teas, it was delicious and gave me my green tea fix.  I cannot stop mentioning that I prefer glass bottles for ideal summertime coldness, but hey.  This one has a nice replay value.

Inko’s White Tea - Blueberry - Family Size

photo-118

Drankenstein went and did it.  Much to my delight, family size Blueberry Inko’s White Tea made an appearance the other day.  It’s a Bombevi - as you know we’re loving the Inko’s over here.  I gotta say that I prefer the coldness of a beverage in a small, glass container, but this was fine.  I was waterfalling many cups.  But I still have to represent for the Unsweetened Hint O’ Mint, which I have recently nominated for prestigious Rookie Of The Year beverage category.  It’s that serious.

Where was this stuff when I was a kid?

Twisted Tea - Hard Iced Tea

img00018

Avoid at all costs.  Underwhelming, unattractively laden with an unpleasant aftertaste and sans carbonation.  Doesn’t even taste like it has any alcohol either, which would definitely put it in the debatable bevi category.

Inko’s White Tea - Lemon

photo-110

photo-111

Bombevi’s love of Inko’s Teas and Inko’s Tea’s love of beverage lovers has amounted to a serendipitous occasion that has blessed the Bombevi Board with a 12-pack of Inko’s White Tea - Lemon.

This is one of the best flavors, up there with the Original, Unsweetened Hint O’ Mint, and Blueberry.  We drank the case in 3 days, and this is despite the fact that I, BevCEO, have been severely rationing them with a great depression-like sternness.

Its has that signature Bombevi Inko’s taste every time, brings serious heat in the lemon tea category, has low caffeine and the typical 7 grams of sugar per serving (Unsweetened Hint O’ Mint has NO sugar at all and is amazing).  Drinking so many beverages, we start to get suspicious and tired of drinks with too much sugar.  It’s summer now and we’re looking for refreshing, low/no sugar drinks.  When it comes to this category of teas, the new heavy hitters are Ito En and Inko’s, but Inko’s comes in a glass bottle, which always makes it colder and more refreshing.  So…

p.s.  Please send more :)  Blueberry!!!

Inko’s White Tea - Cherry Vanilla

photo-99

I’m a big fan of Inko’s teas.  BIG fan.  Every kind I’ve ever had has been the bomb, but this daring stab at nailing a cherry vanilla white tea is just too bold and ambitious.  Now I’m not gonna say it’s a Bombevi, but it is the best cherry vanilla white tea I’ve ever had.

I just think this is a hard flavor to get right in teas.  Go for the original or the Hint O’ Mint if you want cold, refreshing, not-too-sugary tea.

Blueberry Green Tea - Ito En

photo-96

It was hard for me to part with the Apple Tea from Ito En at the sushi place, but this Blueberry Green Tea is possibly better.  It’s incredibly tasty and refreshing.  A brilliantly subtle mix of green tea-ness and blueberry with a little bit of sugar.  Apple or Blueberry Green Tea, It’s all good, baby!
