Vieux Cierre - Jack The Horse Tavern - Brooklyn Heights, Bk

$11.00

$11.00

Cognac, Rye, Benedictine…  I can’t divulge the rest of the house recipe but if you like Manhattans or Sazeracs, this is a nice crisp and alcoholic cousin.  I tasted a nice hint of orange in there too.

Tucked away in the Fruit Patch of Brooklyn Heights on Cranberry St & Hicks St, Jack The Horse is a nice, chilled out restaurant and watering hole where you can get some refined cocktails and cuisine.  I’d recommend stopping in on your BK Heights promenade walkabouts.  Plenty of custom Bombevis and Aaron the bartender will probably guess your poison.

Cas Cal - Crisp White - Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia

$1.99

$1.99

Cas Cal is some tasty soda.  It’s not unlike a good cider or even a wine cooler, but with no alcohol.  I found it at Whole Foods in Union Square and I’d pop in again to try more flavors as this one disappeared pretty fast and left a good aftertaste.  So it’s gotta be a Bombevi.

Ginger Brew - Maine Root - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC

$1.49

$1.49

This ginger brew is pretty good - a discovery that has instantly earned Bombevi status.  It’s smooth and fresh right out of the bottle with a pleasantly mild sweetness and spicy ginger-jolt.  The ginger kick is good but mild - it cradles your palate.  If you’re looking for that good ginger snap that will make you recoil and cough, this won’t do that.

If you want some smooth ginger sweetness that you can tip and chug, get one of these.  It does of course have a lot of sugar, but at $1.49 it’s a steal at the Whole Foods.

Sweet Fruit Smoothie - Daily Juice - Manhattan, NYC

photo-142

Right across the street from Artichoke (if you don’t know, they have crazy awesome pizza - always a line) on 14th St, between 1st & 2nd Avenues in Manhattan is Daily Juice.  The people there were really nice so I asked what they recommended and the guy simply asked me if I wanted sweet or sour.  I said sweet and he gave me nice cold smoothie packed with strawberry, banana, mango, and other sweet flavors.  Normal smoothie price and Bomb.

Apple Soda - Sidral Mundet

photo-141

So far I’ve only seen these in mexican food spots in select NYC locations.  Every time I hit up the (original) Super Taco Plus on Willoughby St in Downtown Brooklyn, I’m poppin’ a Sidral Mundet.  The flavor is stratospheric and refreshing.  Make sure it’s nice and cold and oooooooowweeeeee!!  It’ll make you re-consider messing with green apple sodas altogether.

Ginger Lemonade - Rice - Fort Greene, Brooklyn

photo-138

The incredibly tasty and refreshing Ginger Lemonade at Rice is no doubt a Bombevi.  Strolling through the park on a hot summer day with this in hand is a good look for sure.  Rice has quite a few other noteworthy drinks as well.

The lemonade was great and the ginger gingeriness was well appreciated.  I will say that Rice took a long time getting me the drink, but it was worth the wait and it’s location right off Fort Greene Park is a huge plus.

Mango Passion Puerh Black Tea - Numi Organic Tea

photo-132

Let it be known in this first sentence that Numi is putting out some bomb ass teas, and they are in cold, glass bottles.  You gotta shake it up as there’s some stuff settled at the bottom.  But then you’re hit with an amazing, rich flavor that tastes like you’re drinking a delicious juicy mango that has been soaking in some good tea.  I had it with some spaghetti and it was done by my fourth bite.  Bombevi!!

And if you’re wondering what the Puerh is all about, it’s not some pretentious, retarded way to say pure, it’s pronounced “pu-err” and is a type of black tea leaf picked from trees up to 500 years old, which apparently means antioxidant supernova.  The bottle claims it is, “tropical & succulent” and I wouldn’t say I disagree.  At $3 and with 13g of sugar and 5% juice I’m all aboard if I got some spare change jingling in my shorts.

Pure Water Technology System

photo-127

At my work we used to have Deer Park water delivery, but we switched over to this guy in order to be “more green.” Basically you hook your drinking water line up to this huge black box and it gives you chilly or steamy water on demand.

In our initial taste test we had some doubts but I think the thing just needed to get broken in. Nowadays it spits out super tasty water on-demand, better tasting even than Deer Park. The best part about the Pure Water Technology system is the little LCD screen that tells you you’re drinking “Pure Water!” and has a gallon counter. We’re currently up to 239, and we’ll probably have a little water party when we hit 250.

Coffee - Dad’s Diner - Niagara Falls, Ontario

coffee-dads-diner-niagara-falls-ontario

coffee-dads-diner-2

Black coffee from Dad’s Diner in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  I don’t care if they call their ham bacon or peameal;  if this is what is known as coffee, we’re talking the same language.  Nothing fancy, but top-notch diner-quality coffee.  The second cup was as fresh as the first, and totally slug-able as it’s reaching room temperature and you’re getting ready to head out.

Berry Blast - Naked

photo-120

Inevitably we of the Bombevi crew have started to have vivid dreams involving beverages.  Last night my dream included a thought pertaining to Naked Juice that I think is worth sharing:  aside from being a pretty dependable Bombevi selection, we are noticing that we only buy Naked Juice when we

a. have a noticeable surplus of money and deli runs start getting out of control

b. extremely hungover and in need of quick, nourishing smoothie

c. extremely thirsty/famished and in need of quick liquid sustenance

d. mindful of your wallet, after giving some long, serious, sober thought to the fact that you’re spending as much on your drink as your lunch/snack.

This Berry Blaster, a Bombevi, was purchased in the b. scenario, highlighted by the blaring morning light and the I-don’t-give-a-fuck poncho.
