Honeydrop - Alive - Blood Oranges & Honey Tea - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC
Posted by bombevi in DebatableBevi, Tea on January 8th, 2010

$1.79
I was really excited for this tea, but was disappointed to find a bland, filmy texture in my mouth after taking the initial swig. It hits you with a refreshing wave, but then the after taste settles in and kills it, quickly un-quenching your thirst. You need a chaser or a tooth-brushing after drinking this. With all the delicious teas out there, this gets a zero replay value and DebatableBevi categorization.
BUT if you already have one popped and don’t know what to do, mix it with Smirnoff Vodka and the filmy texture goes away, leaving a very tasty and mild alcoholic bevi. Splashes to vodka, particularly Smirnoff in our case, for the bevi relief.

Amino Vital Pro - Ajinomoto - Fruit Punch
Posted by bombevi in DebatableBevi, Water on June 4th, 2009

First response was “a diabetic would die.” This bevi is super sweet and tastes like those freeze pop popsicles from our childhood. It also has a water after taste which is a relief after the pungent sweetness. The description on the bottle makes it sound like a person would Hulk out after this one bottle and it’s 3,600mg of BCAAs and Arginines, aka amino acids. Overall we believe this drink is a true sports drink, quenching, and I wonder if it’ll really “bring out the winner” in us.
There’s no caffeine in this bevi but we do feel energized. Yo! We feel peppy.
We call this a DebatableBevi, but are willing to try it out again after an intense run or trip to the gym.

Boost - Happy with Goji
Posted by bombevi in DebatableBevi, Juice on May 22nd, 2009

I have yet to drink a Goji Berry flavored drink that I like - it gives kind of a sour, unpleasant taste. Needless to say this bevi didn’t make me very happy or even promote happiness, as I’ve been noticing a lot of marketing strategies say they do. Promotion of physical or emotional stuff…nice try. It was in the $4 range and claims to be filled with all kinds of amazing, all-natural things, but I just can’t get behind this one.
I’d try the other flavors of Boost. I mean, I have to in order to stay true to the Bombevi creed, but I have yet to be convinced of doling out that much cash for a bevi that is not amazing. In review of all these factors I’m declaring Happy Boost a DebatableBevi
