Kombucha - High Country - Original - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC

The Turkish Beverage Board still has to acquire it’s taste for Kombucha, but I thought it was ok compared to others like it.  I’m still a rookie on the kombucha scene, but it seems like one of these new-wave kombucha’s that have more of a flavor than a real taste.

I was decent though.  I kept taking little nips at it throughout the night.

Honeydrop - Alive - Blood Oranges & Honey Tea - Whole Foods, Union Square, NYC

I was really excited for this tea, but was disappointed to find a bland, filmy texture in my mouth after taking the initial swig.  It hits you with a refreshing wave, but then the after taste settles in and kills it, quickly un-quenching your thirst.  You need a chaser or a tooth-brushing after drinking this.  With all the delicious teas out there, this gets a zero replay value and DebatableBevi categorization.

BUT if you already have one popped and don’t know what to do, mix it with Smirnoff Vodka and the filmy texture goes away, leaving a very tasty and mild alcoholic bevi.  Splashes to vodka, particularly Smirnoff in our case, for the bevi relief.

Yerba Mate Lemon Tea - Herbal Mist

photo-29

Very reminiscent of Snapple Lemon Tea but better for you and more expensive, The Herbal Mist Bombevi is infused with Yerba Mate.  Infusion is a cool word for the practice of pouring boiling water over plants and then cooling it.  I’ll bet you infuse on a semi-regular basis and don’t even know it!

But anyway,  This is a Bombevi.  Real tasty and rich with lemon tea flavor.  I would choose this over a Snapple.

Jasmine Tea - Bun Restaurant - Soho, NYC

jasmineflowertea

Jasmine Tea from ‘Bun’ Vietnamese restaurant in Soho.  Refreshment factor = 7, and watching the jasmine ball open up before your eyes into a beautiful flower more than justifies this bevi’s $3 expense.

Arizona Rx Energy Herbal Tonic

Deli’s in New York either don’t cary tall cans of Arizona or they have 50 varieties of these $1 bad boys. Tucked in the corner of the Arizona Display is the Rx Energy Herbal Tonic. It is a little syrupy, a lot sweet and has a nice rounded fruity flavor.  A decent boost of energy, great for lunch when doing manual labor all day.

Bio-Dynamic Tea - Brown Cafe in LES, NYC

$3.50?

$3.50?

This stuff tasted just like the free tea you get at chinese food joints.  It has a really awesome name though.  And who knows, maybe it actually is bio-dynamic!  Maybe you need to drink 3 cups ($10.50) before the effects become significant! Read the rest of this entry »
